With President Obama’s new initiatives urging adults to complete some form of post-secondary education, soon the answer I’m too old to the question of going back to school is going to be scoffed at. The new question those adults who haven’t gone for a post-secondary education will ask each other now should be, So what’s your excuse?

I have no time to go. I work during the dayevening.

The advent of new technology has made the living room the new classroom, or wherever the family computer is kept. If evening and weekend classes are still too inconvenient to work around a mother’s schedule, which does happen, Internet classes should seriously be considered.

Online classes are an amazing way to earn college credit from home. Also, for the single, working mother without much computer experience, this is the perfect opportunity to learn or brush up on those computer skills, as computer skills are a huge plus in many industries today anyway.

Well fine, I guess I could do that, but how am I supposed to pay for all of it

President Obama’s new initiatives include a $4000 tax credit so that, basically, the first four grand of higher education is FREE. Any single, working mom can apply to take advantage of that!

President Obama has now activated a new program designed for Moms of America. Scholarships for Moms could be spun into both a positive light and a negative light. First let’s look at the positive, of course. America can truly say that we are now in a recession and not be afraid of the word “recession”. The media for weeks and months was avoiding this title and doing a disservice to the American People by trying to sugar coat the truth, America is broke.

States, cities and counties across this nation are starting to feel the crunch of poor decisions that our government has made in the past and WE are taking the downfall. Scholarships for Moms could save a lot of families from losing more than they already have lost. Many American families currently only have one income flowing into the household and in today’s economy that will not cut it. Some families are single parent homes and the parent is working 2 or 3 jobs just to pay the bills. And yes most of these single parent homes are run by Moms.

The Scholarships for Moms program that President Obama has started will not only provide strength to a struggling economy but also empowerment to a gender. A gender that still struggles with being accepted in Corporate America as an equal! By educating our Moms of America they can no longer be looked at as just Moms. Corporate America is truly changing and it is because of Education that change is happening.

Women are now being positioned into more and more leadership roles because of their background and not their appearance. We as men can no longer just look over our right shoulder at the next guy but now we must also look over our left shoulder at the next lady.
