The Government Medical College and Hospital Chandigarh was established in the year 1991. At the initial stage, the institute was granted provisional affiliation for the MBBS course by the Punjab University. Medical Colleges – Admission Procedure

  1. This requires the candidate to complete 12th standard examinations or equivalent centralized examinations. For medical college admissions, a student is required to complete his high school with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English as prescribed by NCERT.
  2. The applicant applying for a seat in any medical college must have secured an aggregate marks of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A reserved relaxation is given up to 40% in case of scheduled classes and backward classes.
  3. The candidate must complete 17 years of age on or before December 31st of the year of admission.
  4. To get admission in a premium institution for medical sciences in India a candidate should appear in the entrance test conducted by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education of India) or PMT (Pre-medical Test).PMT consist of two parts: Preliminary Examinations and Final Examinations. Unless a student have cleared the preliminary exams, he will not be allowed to appear in the final examinations.
  5. Apart from CBSE-PMT there are also state level PMT test held in every state to absorb the student of these particular state.

Aspiring medical student need proper guidance and counseling to score well at the medical entrance test. It is necessary to follow a discipline routine, focused study, time management and proper solution of test papers.
